Peter Filopoulos

Peter has over 25 years of highly successful experience as an accomplished senior C-Suite executive in sports administration with some of Australia’s most iconic sports and entertainment brands. Peter’s current role (appointed 1 September 2020) is Head of Marketing, Communications and Corporate Affairs with Football Australia, the national governing body for the sport of football in Australia.

Previously, Peter held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Football Victoria (from May 2018 until August 2020) where his achievements in this role included strong participation growth of 24% in 2018 and 29% in 2019, unlocking over $300M in government funding to address the grassroots facilities gap in Victoria and a leading the Home of the Matildas project and developing a business case for a $116M world-class national training centre (The Home of the Commonwealth Bank Matildas) and successfully securing government funding support from the Federal and State Governments.

This role followed a successful three years as Chief Executive Officer at the Perth Glory Football Club (from August 2015 until May 2018), leading the club out of the salary cap saga that plagued them during the 2014/15 A-League season, developing and implementing a new strategic plan, transforming the business and steering the club into a new and exciting direction, including record membership and commercial growth.
